About TidyTally

TidyTally exists because most financial calculators online are either buried in ads before you can see a single number, gate basic math behind a signup form, or quietly send your income and debt figures off to a server somewhere. We thought a mortgage payment estimate or a tip split shouldn't require any of that — so every calculator here runs entirely in your browser, with nothing to sign up for and nothing sent anywhere.

What we do

TidyTally is a free hub of everyday financial calculators: a Mortgage Calculator with a full amortization schedule, a Loan Payoff Calculator that shows how extra payments actually save you money, a Retirement Savings Calculator that projects your balance with compounding, a simple Tip Splitter, and a Compound Interest Calculator for general savings growth. Each one updates live as you type or drag a slider — no submit button, no waiting.

How the numbers work

Every calculation uses standard, well-established financial formulas — the same amortization math a bank uses to calculate your mortgage payment, the same compounding math that governs how a savings account grows. We don't use proprietary "black box" estimates; the formulas are things you could verify yourself with a calculator and a bit of patience. Every calculator page also includes a written explanation of how its math works and an FAQ addressing the most common questions people have about that specific calculation, so you're not just getting a number — you're getting the reasoning behind it.

Why free, no login

There's no account system on this site because there doesn't need to be. Nothing you type into any calculator is saved, transmitted, or tracked — it's just math happening in your browser tab. You can read exactly what limited technical data we do collect (like general analytics) in our Privacy Policy.

What this site isn't

TidyTally is a planning and estimation tool, not a bank, lender, or financial advisor — see our Disclaimer for the full picture. For decisions that actually matter — taking out a mortgage, restructuring debt, planning retirement contributions — talk to a real professional who can see your full financial picture. We're here for the "let me quickly run the numbers" moment, not the final word.
